Jeffrey D. Meier, 59, of Moline, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15 at the Loraine United Methodist Church, rural Prophetstown. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday, June 15 at the church. A luncheon will follow the service at the church fellowship fall. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund to honor Jeff’s life. The Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jeffrey Dean Meier was born on Sept. 12, 1953, in Moline, the son of William and Phyllis Clark Meier. He attended Fenton and Geneseo grade schools and graduated from Geneseo High School mid-term of his senior year. He then attended classes at Black Hawk College, Moline. He married Jacqueline Anne Williams on Dec. 14, 1986, in Centerville, Iowa. She died on Feb. 1, 2013. He enjoyed playing drums and went on to play with several area bands. He farmed with his father for 20 years and then owned and operated the Insty Print business on the Avenue of the Cities, Moline. Later, he owned and operated Avenue Printing just off the Avenue.
Survivors include his parents, William and Phyllis Meier of Moline; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Linda Meier of Mattoon; a daughter, Angela Meier of Moline; a step daughter and her husband, Dee and Don Thomas of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters, Alicia and Alexxis Meier; grandsons, Zachary Meier and Darian Iwinsky; and a step granddaughter, Savannah Thomas.
