Dorothy Mae Huffman, 81, a resident of Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, formerly of Galva, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at the village. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 27 at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. The Rev. Chris Ritter officiated. A visitation was held Wednesday, June 26 at the funeral home. Burial was in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritan Village Activity Fund.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1931, in Galva, the daughter of Harvey and Pearl (Lempke) Huffman. She was a homemaker and, in her earlier years, was a member of the Home Extension. She enjoyed doing crafts, needle work, embroidery, reading, traveling, camping and especially playing bingo at the Galva Senior Citizens Center and at Good Samaritan Village in Geneseo. She thoroughly enjoyed her family who were very near and dear to her.
Survivors include three sisters, Doris Harper and Mary Ann Haff, both of Geneseo and Betty Turner of Galva; 10 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, John Turner and James Haff; and a great nephew, Brian DeCrane.
