Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary scholarship award recipients were introduced at the auxiliary's annual ice cream social held recently in the Geneseo City Park.
The Auxiliary awarded eight scholarships totaling $7,000.
Recipients are Samantha Cravens, Geneseo, medical student at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield; Daniel Curnyn, Geneseo, medical student at Saint Louis University, School of Medicine, St. Louis, Mo; Keatyn DeGrave, Atkinson, nursing student at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville; Emily Ford, nursing student at University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa; Morgan O'Mara, Geneseo, nursing student at Quincy University; Margaret Schlindwein, Geneseo, nursing student at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis.; Kalie Vandersnick, Atkinson, master's degree student in nursing education online program at Jackson University, Jacksonville, Fla.; Wyatt Verplaetse, Geneseo, medical student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Urbana.
A portion of the funds are memorial scholarships. Curnyn and Verplaetse received funds from the Lyle and Helen Henry Memorial Scholarship Fund. O'Mara and Vandersnick received funds Bruce and Doris Srout Memorial Scholarship.
Funds raised at the ice cream social are used to award scholarships to local students in health care related fields.
Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary scholarship committee members include Janice Durick, Connie Paris and Barbara Schroeder. Roy Joe Klavine was a representative of the Lyle and Helen Henry Memorial Estate.
