Marian Fruhstorfer, 81, of Geneseo, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at the Hammond-Henry Hospital Emergency Room, Geneseo. A memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael Pakula will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church. As per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be left to St. Malachy’s Church or Hillcrest Home. Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd. is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1931, in Munich, Germany, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Luger) Fruhstrofer. She worked as a bookkeeper for Northside Rexall Drug Store for more than 40 years, which she retired. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and knitting.
Survivors include her daughter, Catherine (Doug) Bork of Algonquin; one grandchild, Mitchell Bork of Chicago; three brothers, Franz, Adolph and Hans, all in Germany; and two sisters, Katherine and Agnes, both in Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Rudy and Joseph
