  • Jane Kathleen Diericx, 65, of Rockton, formerly of Geneseo, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at her home. A funeral Mass celebrating her life was held Monday, Aug. 26 at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Atkinson. A visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 25 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson, where a scripture service was held. Memorials may be made to the Jane Diericx Memorial Fund.
    She was born on Feb. 25, 1948, in Galesburg, the daughter of Winfred and Frances (Bergstrom) Ward. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1966 and from Augustana College in 1970 with a degree in secondary education. She married Dennis Diericx on Jan. 30, 1971, in Geneseo. Jane started her teaching career at Orion High School in the fall of 1970, teaching English. She then taught in Lincoln from 1972 to 1977. She later taught at Rockridge High School. Jane and Denny returned to Geneseo where she was a substitute teacher and was the Youth Program Director at St. Malachy’s Church for 10 years. Jane and Denny lived in Geneseo from 1983 to 2005.
    She was a member of St. Peters Church, South Beloit, and a former member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. Jane enjoyed her family, friends, walking, reading and traveling.
    Survivors include her husband, Denny; one son, Brad (Yvette) Diericx of Wheaton; one daughter, Amy Diericx of Chicago; three grandchildren, Cameron, Luke and Shane Diericx; and one sister, Mary Williamsen of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Kyle.
