Vickie Lee Lawrence, 51, of Annawan, formerly of Atkinson, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013. A funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Atkinson. The Rev. S. Stephen Engelbrecht and R. Anthony Lee will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Atkinson. Following the burial, the family will be having a celebration of Vickie’s life and ask that all of Vickie’s friends and family join them in sharing stories and good times at the church hall. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be left to the Vickie Lawrence Memorial Fund.
She was born on May 5, 1962, in Geneseo, the daughter of Lavern Neuleib and Jean Verkruyse. She graduated from Atkinson High School in 1980. She married Kris Lawrence in 1984. Vickie had been employed at Springfield Armory Inc. for more than 25 years, where she started as an executive secretary and moved up into the management division.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her family. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and ladybugs.
Survivors include her three children, Kara Lawrence of Springfield; Kale Lawrence and his daughter, Jayden of Atkinson; and Kristi Lawrence and her daughter, Ezrah of Annawan; mother, Jean (Toot) Causemaker of Atkinson; father, Lavern Neuleib of Colona; three sisters, Val (Loren) Jackson of Annawan, Verna (Steve) Looney of Kewanee and Vanessa (John) Addis of Annawan; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and grandson, Sean.
