Just when you really think that everything Beatles has been processed, pressed, re-mastered, and otherwise released, along comes the surprising news, and on a Phillipines site, no less, that there will be a new Beatles album.  Well, not so much new music discovered on a tape that everyone forgot about, but definitely archival tapes from live BBC sessions, which is pretty good, especially if you're a long time Beatles fan.

Several weeks ago, the Phiilipines section of the MCA arm of Universal Music, posted a quiet piece on their Facebook page (since removed), that there would be a November release of On Air - Live At The BBC, Volume 2.  In 1994, Apple Records released a collection of live BBC sessions from the 1963-1965 period of the legendary band that crammed over 50 songs across two discs.  That album, Live At The BBC, went on to sell more than eight million copies.

Since the watchful eyes of an Australian Beatles-specific site, Wog Blog, uncovered this gem of an informational piece, the  news of a new Beatles set has delighted fans everywhere.  This news is still quite fresh.  So fresh, in fact, there is no track-listing, nor any indication of any kind of what might be in the set. Of course, that never stops anyone from speculation.  Currently, the thought is that these tapes may be bootleg tracks from listeners.  But, in reality, no one other than the labels involved know anything about the upcoming album.

The great thing is that what may be the album's cover has been captured.  So, if you're a Beatles fan, young or old, there appears to be reason for you to become quite pleased with this bit of news. If you're excited, keep your eyes on November.

In other Beatles-related news, Paul McCartney is readying a new album, his first set of new songs since 2007's Memory Almost Full (he released an album of mostly covers in 2012 called Kisses On The Bottom).  The upcoming album is called, simply, New.  New is scheduled for issue on October 15 via his current label, Hear Music. The lead-off single, "New", has already been released to iTunes.  The album itself is planned to contained twelve songs.  An expanded Deluxe Edition will add two additional songs for a total of fourteen McCartney originals.

Beatles fans are lucky twice as 2013 begins to draw to a close.
