Sept. 6, 2013
The heat yesterday was of blue ribbon quality.
Vision-inducing it was!
That was yesterday. Today is cooler. The breathing is easier.
Fall is on the way, as evidenced by a brightening leaf here and there, and, of course, the ever-outrageous poke, often called pokeweed, which this time of year is all about tropical splendor exhibited far north of the tropics.
Poke—avoid the root, enjoy the leaves, the latter especially now that pre-autumn is here.
