  • Lawrence A. “Lorney” Neyrinck, 80, of Erie, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Erie. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie. The family welcomes and encourages Street Rods and Hot Rods at the visitation and funeral. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
    Lorney was born on Oct. 27, 1932, in Moline, the son of Andre and Mabel (Schurvinski) Neyrinck. He graduated from United Township High School in 1951. He married Muriel Jacobs on Nov. 21, 1953, at St. John’s Church, Rapids City. He served in the Navy Reserves and was a member of the Seabees Batallion. Lorney worked as a brick mason for 65 years and, during that time, worked at John Deere Harvester Works for 30 years. He was member of the Brick Layers Local No. 6 and the UAW Local No. 865 in East Moline. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church in Erie and the Quad Cities Vintage Rods Car Club. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Muriel, especially to California.
    Survivors include his children and spouses, Toni Drilling of Tampico, Dawn (Arlyn) Meier of Prophetstown, Cindy (Dick) DeSmith of Atkinson, Marty (Cindy) Neyrinck of Dixon and Andy (Debbie) Neyrinck of Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren, Tammy Hannah, Tiffany Erhardt, Tobi Drilling, Shaun Meier, Eric Meier, Angie Smalley, Cory DeSmith, Josh DeSmith, Missy Reyes, Kelsey Neyrinck, Katie Neyrinck and Brady Neyrinck; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Lovenia) Neyrinck of Port Byron and a sister, Sharan (Robert) Norin of Apache Junction, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Muriel in September 2011; and son-in-law, Terry Drilling.
