school crossingPinch me, but I think this was the first week the kids had an entire week of school without a break since school started.

Knowing that we have a Columbus Day break coming up, a teacher “in service” day (whatever that is) and some other days off here and there, I made sure to make good use of the time.

Translation:  I got a pedicure.

The good news was, I got a really awesome pedicure.

Flashing-Lights-in-Rear-View-crop.2The bad news was, I got stopped by a cop for speeding on my way to the pedicure.

In my defense, the speed limit sign was hidden behind some branches of a tree.  However, since I live in the area and I drive these roads a lot, it would be unlikely that I would not know what the speed limit is unless I had short term memory loss… or I was a blonde.

Fortunately I got let off with just a verbal warning, or that would have been one, pricey, pedicure.

I did actually get a couple of other things accomplished this week. In case you missed them, here are some other things you can check out:

-I wrote a blog post for Dot Complicated, a new online community created by Randi Zuckerberg aimed at “untangling” our modern, wired lives.

teacher-In anticipation of my kids’ Back to School night, I posted, “The Top Ten Things to Do to Liven up Back to School Night.”

-Several women shared their stories about being lost in motherhood on the new “Lost in Suburbia Stories,” site. Come share your story for a chance to win a copy of my book, “Lost in Suburbia: A Momoir” and a gift basket from CVS ExtraCare Pharmacy and Health Rewards.

I’m putting the finishing touches on a presentation I’m doing about Publishing and Marketing your Book at the Blogalicious conference October 3-5. Blogalicious is THE go-to destination for influential multicultural women social media enthusiasts from all over the world to collaborate, connect and uplift one another. It will be in Atlanta this year and they have some amazing things planned for the weekend. Check it out HERE.

My friend Michele Wojciechowski interviewed me for an article in Parade.com where she outed me as a former singing gorilla.

I also contributed “5 Ways for New Moms to get Their Cool Back,” on Parade.com.

Finally, my new humor column, “The Case of the Conniving Canine” is in newspapers this week.  To read the column, CLICK HERE.

Thanks for coming by Lost in Suburbia this week!
