Mary L. Johnson, 72, of Annawan, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care. A funeral Mass celebrating her life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Annawan. The Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Annawan. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Annawan/Alba Rescue Squad, Annawan/Alba Library or Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Vandemore Funeral Homes Ltd., Atkinson is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born on April 11, 1941, in Annawan, the daughter of Herbert C. and Marguerite (Billiet) Vandersnick. She was a 1959 graduate of Annawan High School. She married Ronald E. Johnson on May 28, 1966, in Annawan.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She also served as a former eucharistic minister and CCD teacher. She was an avid football fan and enjoyed reading. Her faith was strong and she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Ron; two sons, Darin (Sarah) Johnson of Coralville, Iowa; Dirk (Anna) Johnson of Feltwell, England; four grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Luke Johnson and Anastasia Johnson; one brother, Donald (Betty) Bradley of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Barbara (Marvin) Haverback of Annawan. She was preceded in death by her parents
