Darla Jean (Klavon) Stidham, 61, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., formerly of Geneseo, was called to heaven on Thursday morning, Sept. 26, 2013, in St. Paul, Minn. She has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Edford Township, Geneseo. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Interment will be in North Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Darla was born to Harry A. and Sylvia I. (Pemberton) Klavon on July 1, 1952. She graduated from J.D. Darnall High School in 1970. She was a graduate of Sawyer Business College in Davenport, Iowa. She married David Stidham in April 1984, in Davenport. They later divorced.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Edford Township, Geneseo. She lived in Minnesota for the past 24 years and was currently a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Inver Grove Heights.
Before becoming disabled in 2008, she worked at Phoenix International.
Darla will be remembered by many for her laughter and smile, she always had a smile for anyone she met and she touched so many hearts. She was the family comedian and could always make us laugh. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She loved and cherished her family.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Crystal Stidham of Inver Grove Heights; daughter, Becca Stidham of Mankato, Minn.; step granddaughter, Amanda; 3- month-old grand son, William; step daughters, Jean Stidham-Kamerad and Samantha Stidham Miller, both in Michigan; mother Sylvia Klavon Sims of Milan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Russ and Carol Klavon of Milan; Dennis and Ann Klavon of Monett, Mo.; and Ray and Annette Klavon of Geneseo; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn Anderson of East Moline, Carolyn and Dan Werner of Geneseo and Jane and Jack Copeland of Moline; many nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry; godson and nephew, Marcus Klavon; nephew, Kyle Klavon; and brother-in-law, Richard Anderson.
She was much loved and will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
