Daniel Joseph Evans, 23, of Middleton, Wis., formerly of Geneseo, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, in East Moline. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. A visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 24 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, where a scripture service was held. Memorials may be left to the Daniel Evans Memorial Fund.
He was born on June 21, 1990, in Lich, Germany, the son of Thomas and Joan (Mason) Evans. He was a 2008 graduate of Geneseo High School and had attended Western Illinois University. He currently was employed as a meat specialist for Hy-Vee Food Stores in Madison, Wis. He attended St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo and played football while in high school. He enjoyed golfing and racing his car. He was a loyal Denver Broncos and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved his dog, Remi, and being with his friends. Daniel adored his family.
Survivors include his mother, Joanie Evans of Bettendorf, Iowa; his father, Tom Evans, currently assigned in South Korea; sisters, Sarah Evans of Moline; and Megan Evans, Rachel Evans and Shannon Evans, all of Bettendorf; grandmother, Veronica “Ooma” Mason of Savanna; grandparents, Joseph and Irene Evans of Savanna; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John C. Mason and the family’s beloved dog, Gemma.
