Sally Harper, 79, pronounced dead after life-flight to Peoria hospital
A Kewanee woman died Thursday after a three-vehicle accident on Route 78 south of Kewanee.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office reported that Sally Harper, 79, died after being life-flighted to a Peoria hospital after the accident.
According to the sheriff's office, Harper was driving a 2008 Honda Accord northbound on Route 78 just north of the Stark County line when her car crossed the centerline and sideswiped a southbound 2005 Ford Explorer driven by Edward Mitchell, 75, of Kewanee.
The Harper vehicle then collided head-on with a southbound 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Gail Sherbeyn, 46, of LaFayette.
Sally Harper and a passenger, Wayne Harper, were transported to Kewanee Hospital and later life-flighted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Sally Harper was later pronounced dead by the Peoria County coroner's office. Wayne Harper was listed in serious condition at the Peoria hospital Friday.
Mitchell was transported to Kewanee Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Galva Ambulance and the Stark County Ambulance Service assisted at the accident scene.
The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
