  • Obituary: Mary ‘Jane’ Davis

  • Mary “Jane” Davis, 83, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Columbia. Cremation rites have been accorded. Per Jane’s wishes, no visitation or funeral services will be observed. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Bill, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

  • Mary “Jane” Davis, 83, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Columbia. Cremation rites have been accorded.     Jane was born on Nov. 10, 1930, in Springfield, the daughter of Jules and Genevieve Rapinac Guimard. She married William J. Davis Jr. on Sept. 17, 1949, at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. He died in 2002.
    Jane attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Feitshans High School in Springfield. Along with her husband, she lived in the Illinois cities of Springfield, Greenfield, Mazon, Atkinson, Sherman and in the Columbia area for more than 40 years. She worked at Carson Pirie Scott in Peoria. She enjoyed keeping up on the news of her large extended family and collecting family photos, decorating her home, taking care of her large yard, and shopping for bargains of any kind. Her grandchildren were very special to her.
    Survivors include her children, Deborah (Steve) Jones of Kokomo, Ind., and Gary (Agnes) Davis of Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren, Katherine and Gwendolyn Jones and William Davis; one great grandchild, Griffin Finkler; an aunt, Sally Lopian; a brother-in-law, Chuck Davis; her godchildren, Troy Minnaert and Megan Conner; many loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and several dedicated, caring neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Henry Malensky, and several treasured aunts and uncles.
