Susan J. Domino, 57, of Geneseo, died peacefully Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Hammond-Henry Hospital’s Long-Term Care Unit. In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated and will be interned at a later date, with her parents, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Chicago. Memorials may be made to the Susan J. Domino Memorial Fund. Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sue was born on Oct. 26, 1956, in Chicago, the daughter of Mary and Salvatore Domino. She moved, with her parents, to Genoa City, Wis., in 1969 where she attended and graduated from Badger High School, Lake Geneva, Wis., in 1975.
Sue was injured as a passenger in a motorcycle accident in 1978, and spend the remainder of her days as a quadriplegic. Sue moved to Geneseo in 2006 to live with her brother, Tom, and sister-in-law, Laura Domino. Despite her challenges, she made the best of her time. She loved the Lord and enjoyed reading the Bible. Sue learned how to use a computer and spent time shopping online, playing Solitaire, and taking online classes. Sue was an avid user of Facebook where she enjoyed being able to keep up with her family and friends. She would be seen every warm, sunny day in front of her home “catching some rays” and working on her tan. She made many new friends with people who walked by and with the UPS and Fed Ex drivers who got to know her very well. She loved being with her niece and nephews and hearing about their adventures. Summer family reunions were her favorite times.
Sue established new friendships with the care givers who helped her. Thanks to Hammond-Henry Hospital staff who always treated Sue with tender, loving care. Special thanks to Ruth, Ellen, Macy, Abbey, Kaitlin, Luanne and all of the Home Health RNs and aides who became part of her family. She loved you all so very much.
Survivors include her brothers, Tom (Laura) Domino of Geneseo; Vince (Melanie) Domino of Pell Lake, Wis.; and Joseph Domino of Pell Lake; niece, Alicia; and nephews, Tony, Joey, Vinny (Kristen) and Michael (Christina). She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary, and her father, Salvatore. She will be celebrating Christmas with them.
