Geneseo vs. Moline

The Leafs and Maroons battled it out on the mats in Geneseo Dec. 11 with Moline escaping with a narrow, 28-27 victory.

“We won 8 out of the 14 matches, but it was just the bonus points that got us,” said Murray. “We did win the close ones and two overtime matches, but we got pinned three times.”

Moline grabbed the first win of the night as Hunzeker (170-lbs.) fell in an 8-4 decision; but Pitra (182-lbs.) tied the match up with a 5-1 decision win in the next bout.

Mizlo (195-lbs.) put the Leafs ahead with an 11-3 major decision victory, and Akre (220-lbs.) extended the advantage with a 5-4 decision win.

“Moline is solid,” said Murray. “We knew we would have our hands full. It was a good experience, a good dual, and will help us in the long run this season.”
