    Geneseo at Hinsdale Invite
The varsity Leafs represented Geneseo well in the powerhouse Hinsdale Invite Dec. 20-21 as Geneseo grabbed fifth place as a team and had seven place winners.

“That is exactly the competition we needed to get ready for the state series,” said head coach Jon Murray. “I think we proved we belonged there, and we can hang with the big schools. The guys proved they can hang with the competition. We got some good state-wide attention.”
Ryan Pitra (182-pounds) earned runner-up honors as he won in a 7-5 decision over Belleville West’s Claude Shelby in his opening match. Pitra later defeated Fenton’s Juan Alfaro in a 7-1 decision, and Carl Sandburg’s Hunter Pindel in a 3-2 decision. In the championship bout, Pitra fell to Mt.
