  • The Geneseo varsity girls’ soccer team is out to a 2-0 start to the season after the Lady Leafs defeated Alleman and Peoria Notre Dame in action this past week.

  • The Geneseo varsity girls’ soccer team is out to a 2-0 start to the season after the Lady Leafs defeated Alleman and Peoria Notre Dame in action this past week.
    Geneseo vs. Alleman
    Geneseo’s varsity girls’ soccer team notched 3-0 win over visiting Alleman April 1.
    Lauren Coulter put the Lady Leafs on the board in the first half as she punched in a goal at the 11 minute and 54 second mark on the assist from Caitlin Akers to give Geneseo the 1-0 advantage at the half.
    After the break, Geneseo added two insurance goals by Hannah Pace to seal the victory. Pace scored her first goal on the assist from Akers at 67:22 and the second came just before the final horn sounded at 78:07 on the assist from Heather Setser.
    Geneseo finished the game with 10 shots on goal and Darci Dietrich made five saves in net for the Lady Leafs.
    Alleman took seven shots on goal and had four goalie saves.
    The junior varsity also grabbed a victory, 2-0 over the Pioneers.
    Geneseo vs. Peoria Notre Dame
    The Lady Leafs opened their season March 29 against Peoria Notre Dame where they escaped with a 1-0 win over the visitors.
    The game was scoreless through the first half of action, but just after the break Pace punched in an unassisted goal at the 41-minute mark to put Geneseo on the board.
    Geneseo finished the game with five shots on goal and Dietrich had nine saves in net. Peoria Notre Dame took nine shots on goal and had four saves.
    The Lady Leafs (2-0 overall) will next host Dixon at 4:30 p.m. April 10.
