  • Craig W. Holt, 70, of Geneseo, died Friday, April 25, 2014, at his home. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date at First Lutheran Church. Inurnment with military honors will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

  • Craig W. Holt, 70, of Geneseo, died Friday, April 25, 2014, at his home. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date at First Lutheran Church.     He was born on Sept. 8, 1943, in Chicago, the son of Carl and Lorraine (Skoog) Holt. He was a 1961 graduate of Fenger High School in Chicago, a 1965 graduate of Augustana College and a 1971 graduate of Loyola School of Dentistry. He married Joan M. Pomplun on Sept. 4, 1965, in New Jersey. Craig was LTC U.S. Army Dentist for 18 years, retiring in 1994. He served 1971 to 1973 with a year in Korea and 1979 to 1994 with three years in Germany. He had a private dental practice in Bushnell from 1973 to 1979.
    He was a member of First Lutheran Church where he sang in the Sanctuary Choir and was a member of the Geneseo VFW and B.P.O.E. Rock Island. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, music and travel.
    Survivors include his wife, Joan; daughter, Gretchen (Rob) Radke of Williamsburg, Va.; two sons, Lyle (Nanda) Holt of Killeen, Texas, and Andrew Holt of Killeen; six grandchildren, Matt, Jon and Caleb Holt, Meghan Maroney, Thomas Radke and Amanda Holt; two great granddaughters, Gabby and Nikki; his mother, Lorraine Holt of Chicago; sister, Karen Lundy and one aunt, Helen Peterson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, uncle and brother-in-law.
