  • The Geneseo varsity girls’ soccer team notched two more conference wins this past week over Sterling and Streator, and also knocked off Rock Island in non-conference play.
    Geneseo vs. Sterling
    The Lady Leafs pitched another shut out in conference play May 13, 7-0 against Sterling.
    Hannah Pace opened the game with the first two goals of the contest — the first on the assist from Jessa Coulter at the 4-minute mark and the second unassisted at 29:00 for the 2-0 lead.
    Heather Setser punched through another Lady Leaf goal on the assist from Lauren Coulter just before the half at 39:00 to give Geneseo the 3-0 advantage.
    Lauren Coulter added an unassisted goal at the 47:00-mark; followed by Kylie Gerhardt with an unassisted goal at 52:00 for a 5-0 lead.
    Tarah Fisher capped off the night for Geneseo with the final two goals of the contest — the first on the assist from Caitlin Akers at 73:00 and the second on the assist from Shelby Clary at 76:00.
    The Lady Leafs finished the game with 16 shots on goal and had no saves in net; while Sterling took zero shots on goal and had eight saves.
    Geneseo vs. Rock Island
    Geneseo notched another home win this past week with a 4-1 win over Rock Island May 9.
    Setser helped the Lady Leafs strike first with a goal on the assist from Kaylie Piekos at 17:00, but Rock Island tied the game at 1-1 with a penalty kick goal by Victoria Almanza at 20:00.
    Jordan DePauw put Geneseo back in the lead, 2-1 at the half on a goal off the assist from Jessa Coulter at 27:00.
    Setser contributed her second goal of the contest, unassisted at 46:00; while Pace booted through the final goal of the game, unassisted at 60:00.
    Geneseo took 15 shots on goal and Alissa Zobrist had one save in net; while Rock Island finished with two shots on goal and had nine saves.
    Geneseo vs. Streator
    The Lady Leafs cruised past visiting Streator May 8, 11-0 in conference action.
    The Coulter girls got the scoring started with the first three goals — Jessa Coulter punched in the first goal of the game on the assist from Lauren Coulter at the 1:00-mark; followed by Lauren Coulter with two goals on the assist from Pace at 8:00 and Gerhardt at 18:00.
    Clary booted through Geneseo’s fourth goal on the assist from DePauw at 21:00; while Setser scored at 37:00 with an unassisted goal.
    Akers knocked in Geneseo’s final two goals of the half at 38:00 and 39:00, the first unassisted and the second on the assist from Jessa Coulter to give Geneseo the 7-0 lead.
    Page 2 of 2 - After the half, Pace scored an unassisted goal at 43:00; followed by DePauw with an unassisted goal at 47:00.
    Becca Rapps found the net at 53:00 with an unassisted goal; while Fisher capped off the game with a goal at 60:00, unassisted.
    The Lady Leafs ended the game with 28 shots on goal and Zobrist and Bailey Ries had zero saves in net; while Streator took zero shots on goal and had 13 saves.
    The Lady Leafs (16-2 overall and 8-0 in the NIB 12) will take on the winner of the Sterling/Rock Island regional contest at 4:30 p.m. May 20 in the Geneseo Regional.
