  • Longtime Green Machine football supporter and fan, Victor Tracey, passed away May 7 in Geneseo.
Tracey was a founding member of the Geneseo Football Boosters, which started in 2003, and has been instrumental in the football program from high school all the way down to the youth level, and was an avid Geneseo Green Machine Football fan.
“He will be sorely missed by a lot of people,” said Geneseo athletic director Travis Mackey. “He was a special guy who cared about Geneseo and tried to make it to as many events as possible. You could always count on him to be there.”
“I can remember Vic always being at practice checking things out,” said head coach Larry Johnsen Jr. “He never had a negative thing to say, and just wanted to see what the boys were up to. There are a lot of people who help with the program and Vic was one of them. We are going to miss his presence.”
Mackey also said, aside from being a founding member of the booster club, he worked with the Kitchen Quarterbacks and was involved in the production of the momentos given to the football players at the end of each season.
“This is real sad for the football community,” said Mackey. “He was a die-hard fan.
“The big thing when he helped create the football boosters was their motto ‘How can we help.’ That was him in a nutshell. He always wanted to help, and you could always count on seeing him at practice to see what the next season would bring.”
“It was always nice after practice to come over and have a conversation with him and talk Geneseo football,” said Johnsen. “I am going to miss that. I also am going to miss the personal relationship I had with Vic.”
