The Lady Leafs earned a spot at state at the May 16 Plano Sectional where the team took home second place.

Geneseo’s 4x800-meter relay of Taylor Claus, Sarah Dellett, Morgan Kelly and Halle Olson took home second to advance with a time of 10 minutes and 17.68 seconds.

The 4x100-m relay of Rayne Bodeen, Katie Puls, Hanna Vanderheyden and Anna Wise grabbed top honors as they took the tape in 50.58.

The 4x400-m relay of Grace Madigan, Puls, Olson and Wise finished in second place with a time of 4:13.69 to advance.

Audrey Anderson punched her ticket to state in the discus with a first-place finish and a throw of 113-02; while Vanderheyden placed first in the 100-m hurdles in 16.10 to head to state.

Bodeen earned two individual spots in the state finals in the 100-m dash and 200-m dash. She placed first in the 100-m dash at sectionals in 12.74 and first in the 200-m dash in 26.62.

Long jump: Kempher, 15-3 1/2 and DuBois, 15-01. Triple jump: Madigan, 31-02 and Backes, 30-10. Shot put: Anderson, 33-01. High jump: Dani Clary, 4-10 and Rachel Schilling, 4-8. Pole vault: Kempher, 7-03 and DuBois, 7-03.

The Lady Leafs will be in action in the IHSA State Finals in Charleston May 22-24.
