Genealogy lecturer and author Steve Szabados will present a pair of programs at the Geneseo Public Library.

“Jump Start Your Genealogy Research” will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, followed by “Beyond the Basics” offered at 1 p.m. the same day.

Each presentation will last 60 to 75 minutes and will be followed by a 15-minute question and answer session.

Szabados will share his knowledge and experience with those wishing to learn more about family history. He will describe his method that will make efforts more successful and cover both Internet resources and traditional archival research.

Szabados is a member of the Northwest Suburban Council of Genealogists and Illinois State Genealogical Society, a director for the Polish Genealogical Society of America and a genealogy volunteer at the Arlington Heights Library.

He has traced ancestors back to 1600s in New England and 1730s in Poland, Germany, Bohemia and Slovenia. He is the author of several books on genealogy and the genealogy columnist for the Polish American Journal.

Szabados’ visit to the Geneseo Public Library is sponsored by a grant from the Sherrard Foundation.
