Twenty-one Geneseo High School seniors have been named Illinois State Scholars.

Illinois State Scholars are determined by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Students are recognized for their outstanding academic achievement. They rank in the top 10 percent of the state’s high-school graduating seniors.

Twenty-one Geneseo High School seniors have been named Illinois State Scholars.

Illinois State Scholars are determined by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Students are recognized for their outstanding academic achievement. They rank in the top 10 percent of the state’s high-school graduating seniors.

Rankings are based on a combination of ACT, SAT or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores and/or class rank at the end of their junior year.

“Being recognized as an Illinois State Scholar is a tremendous personal accomplishment for each student,” said GHS principal Mike Haugse. “I know that I speak for all the staff of Geneseo High School in extending a heartfelt congratulations to all the selected students. I am personally proud of not only the students, but the teachers, counselors, support staff and other who have helped mold and guide these talented young ladies and gentlemen throughout their high school career,”

Illinois State Scholars from Geneseo High School are: Jenna Decker, Avery Dunker, Lindsey Francque, Sydney Himmelman, Dylan Hodge, Allyson Klein, Emma Lovett, Morgan May, Grace McAvoy, Michaela McCright, Adam Miller, Ava Monson, Tate Neff, Andrew Roseman, Charles Schlindwein, Kyle Sellers, Nathan Soria, Alexander Sottos, Erin Starkey, Jacob Verplaetse and Alex Williams.

Geneseo’s Illinois State Scholars will be honored at a spring student recognition ceremony on March 13 at First United Methodist Church, in Geneseo.
