Jason Brent Swift, 48, of Atkinson, died unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island. A visitation service will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Memorials may be left to the Jason Swift Memorial Fund.

Jason Brent Swift, 48, of Atkinson, died unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island. Jason was born Dec. 16, 1968, in Kewanee, the son of Ron Swift and Mary Beth (Seifert) Swaggerty. He attended and graduated from Kewanee High School in 1987. Jason married Nicole M. Verdick on Sept. 5, 2009, in Geneseo. Jason started his career with McDonald’s in 1986 as a crew worker and became manager of the Kewanee location in 1993. He then moved to the Geneseo McDonald’s location where he worked as the general manager. He worked for McDonald’s for 31 years. Jason enjoyed playing his guitar (left handed), shooting guns, camping and spending time outdoors. He was a huge Chicago Bears fan. Jason loved to cook and grill for his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nicole; sons, Brandon Swift, of Geneseo; and Tyler Swift, of Menifee, Calif.; step-son, Clint Verdick, of Atkinson; his parents, Ron Swift, of Kewanee; and Mary Beth (Gary) Swaggerty, of Springfield; brothers, Josh Stairwalt, of Reno, Nev.; and Zach Stairwalt, of Roseville, Calif.; and sisters, Jennifer Symms, of Cypress, Texas; and Meagan Stairwalt, of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
