Lowell K. Aper, 90, of Savoy, formerly of Emden, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at Champaign Regional Rehab. A visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home, in Lincoln. A funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24 at the funeral home. Burial followed in Hartsburg Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Emden Volunteer Fire Department and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Lowell was born Nov. 23, 1926, the son of John and Anna (Luken) Aper. He married Patricia R. Murray on July 10, 1954. She preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2008. He served in the United States Army from 1946-1947. He was a member of the Emden Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years. He also was a Red Cross blood donor, having donated more than 23 gallons.

He is survived by three sons, Michael (Dawn) Aper, of Savoy; David Aper, of Geneseo; and Stephen (Susan) Aper, of St. Louis, Mo. He has nine grandchildren. He is survived by four brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson and one brother.
