Steven L. Douglas, 66, of Geneseo, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, in Bettendorf, Iowa. A funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., in Orion. A visitation was from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20 at the funeral home. Burial was in Glennwood Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Orion American Legion Post No. 255 and the Orion VFW Post No. 143. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to the American Cancer Society.

Steven was born on Dec. 9, 1950, in Geneseo, the son of Loren and Shirley (Wells) Douglas. He married Laura Hancock on Sept. 14, 1974, in Orion. As a youngster, he delivered newspapers. He enjoyed woodworking projects and could fix anything. He attended school for auto body repair and then mechanics. He went on to work as a Certified Auto Mechanic at Ford dealers. Later, he worked in small engine repair at Teske Pet & Garden, in Moline.

Steve was a veteran, having been drafted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, gardening, and riding his bicycle and motorcycle.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR (Go Matt) and the Denver Broncos and listening to classic/hard rock music.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Douglas; children, Eric Douglas, of Davenport, Iowa; and Trisha Douglas, of Moline; sister, Sidney Douglas, of Moline; sister-in-law, Lisa (Tony) Stiles, of Orion; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
