Marjorie Marie (Paulsen) Lewis, 88, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Amber Ridge Assisted Living, in Moline. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8 at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, in Rock Island. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Geneseo Friends of the Library, or to the charity of your choice in honor of Marjorie.

Marjorie was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Geneseo, the daughter of Henry and Gabrielle (Holevoet) Paulsen. She attended Country School for primary education and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Ralph G. Lewis on Nov. 2, 1947, in Geneseo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1999. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, walking, drawing, quilting, needle crafts, reading, and traveling. She very much loved her St. Malachy Church community and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Richard (Sue) Lewis, Marcia (David) Everett, Karl Lewis and Gina (Joseph) Massop. Her grandchildren are: Michael (Gayle) Lewis, Donna (Jim) Brady, Gabrielle Lewis, Nick Lewis, Lindsey (Eric) DeWall, and Stacey (Troy) House. Marjorie also is survived by her seven great-grandchildren: Brynn, Zach, Lauren, Katie, Audrey, June and Eli; as well as her sister, Louise (Ivan) Wildemuth; brother, Albert (Anne) Paulsen; and friend, Dathan Kerber. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabrielle (Holevoet) Berghdahl and Henry Paulsen; her husband, Ralph Lewis; her sister, Elaine Turner; and a grandson, Timmy.
