Shirley E. Prenevost, 83, of Geneseo, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at the Aspen Rehab & Health Care Center, in Silvis. A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. The Rev. David Murphy officiated. Burial was at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery, in Hampshire, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8. A visitation was one hour (10 a.m. to 11 a.m.) prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Memorials may be left to the Shirley Prenevost Memorial Fund.

Shirley was born May 22, 1934, in Hinkley (Mission Creek), Minn., the daughter of Glenn and Bessie (Zeman) Truesdell. She was united in marriage to William Prenevost in 1951. William passed away in 1986. She later married Robert Brown in 1996. Robert passed away in 2016. Shirley’s passion was raising her 11 children. She continued to spend her life supporting and encouraging them and their families. She also enjoyed traveling later in her life. Shirley had been attending First Baptist Church, in Geneseo.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Terry (Mark) Larson, of Geneseo; Bill (Susan) Prenevost, of Kansas City, Kan.; Gordon (Carol) Prenevost, of Geneseo; Brad (Terriann) Prenevost, of Waco, Texas; Mike Prenevost, of Geneseo; Brien (Judy) Prenevost, of South Elgin; Rosanne (Kermit) Brown, of Elkhart, Ind.; Frank (Lana) Prenevost, of Antioch, Tenn.; Galen Prenevost, of Santa Fe, N.M.; Marilee (Curt) Pfaffinger, of Hampshire; and Tim (Stephanie) Prenevost, of Geneseo. She has 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister, Darlene (Paul) Christensen, of Pensacola, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Prenevost; and by her second husband, Robert Brown.
