David was born Sept. 26, 1952, in Pontiac, the son of the Rev. William O. and Charlotte Williams Smith. He married Judy Reed on May 24, 2008, in Geneseo. He served as the pastor for Grace Community Church of Nazarene for nine years.

David loved Indian artifacts and history. He enjoyed nature, fishing, and boating on the river. He especially enjoyed spending time with family; listening to his brother, Tim, play the piano; and riding motorcycles. David was concerned for everyone’s well-being, and was there for his people, no matter what. His true passion was for Christ, and he would find any way he could to talk about Jesus and Salvation.
