Donna J. Johnson, 79, formerly of Cambridge, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at Rosedale Cemetery, in Cambridge. The Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate. The family requests casual dress for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cambridge Lutheran Church, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Henry County Humane Society - Geneseo. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donna Jean Smith was born March 27, 1938, in Kewanee, the daughter of Gale and Doris (Hawthorne) Smith. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Rodney D. Johnson on Dec. 30, 1956, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. He survives. Donna had worked at BankORION, in Cambridge, and retired after 34 years. She was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church, and she loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney, of Geneseo; two daughters, Denise (Charlie) Brown, of Cambridge; and Deana Fox, of Orion; six grandchildren, Sara (Chad) Humphrey, Michael (Jessica) Beam, Brandon (Amanda) Beam, Tyler Fox, Tanner (Amber) Fox, and Jacob Fox; nine great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Avery and Ella Humphrey; Rodney, Rowdy and Ruby Sue Beam; Caylee and Colton Beam; and Elisabeth Fox; a brother, Carl (Mary) Smith, of Geneseo; and a sister, Bette (Gene) Clare, of Colona. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Lavonne and Linder Schumaker.
