Linda A. Hodgett, 75, of Clinton, N.C., formerly of Champaign, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at the Sampson Regional Medical Center, in Clinton, N.C. A funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Atkinson. The Rev. Scott Miller officiated. Burial was at Sheffield Cemetery. A visitation was from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society.

Linda was born Oct. 14, 1942, in Lincoln County, Mo., the daughter of Earl W. and Martha E. (Wombie) Nichols. She was united in marriage to James J. Hodgett on Aug. 21, 1969, in Rock Island. She was a secretary at Parkland College, in Champaign, for 20 years. Linda enjoyed yard work and tending to her flower garden. She had a great love and compassion for all animals.

Survivors include her husband, James J. Hodgett, of Champaign; son, William F. Hodgett, of Dunn, N.C.; and her step-daughter, Vickie (Calvin) McKenzie, of East Moline. Her grandchildren are: Jason (Jaime) McKenzie, Chris (Beth) McKenzie, and John (Gloria) Dzekunskas. She has five great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, Nolan (Karen) Pierce, of Port Richey, Fla.; and sisters, LaVonne (Harvey) Hayes, of Newton Grove, N.C.; and Rose Nichols, of Troy, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Martha; and by her step-daughter, Debbie Dzekunskas.
