Karen K. Cooprider, 77, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at her home in Geneseo surrounded by her family. A funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. Chris Ritter officiated. Burial followed at Greenview Memorial Gardens, in East Moline. A visitation was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Karen Cooprider Memorial Fund.

Karen was born Dec. 3, 1939, in Moline, the daughter of Oscar and Dorothy (Meek) Malmstrom. She was united in marriage to Paul R. Cooprider on Oct. 13, 1955, in Rock Island. Paul preceded her in death in 2011. Karen worked in the housekeeping department at Hammond-Henry Hospital for 10 years. She was a member of many organizations including the Women of the Moose; Eagles Club; Geneseo Junior Woman’s Club; Henry County Home Extension; Viking Club, of Moline; German Heritage Club, of Davenport, Iowa; and a Thursday girls’ group. Karen also was in a card playing group that she enjoyed being a part of. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Geneseo.

Survivors include her daughter, Nanette (David) Witt, of LeClaire, Iowa; and her sons, David (Debhora Guadian) Cooprider, of Manteca, Calif; Mark (Doreen) Cooprider, of Moline; and Michael (Brenda) Cooprider, of Englewood, Colo. She is survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as her sisters, JoAnne Hantz, of Michigan; Gerry (Jim) Graham, of Hampton; and Debbie (Andy) Berglund, of Silvis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Dorothy; her husband, Paul; and one grandson, Justin Gengler.
