Marilyn Rose DePauw, 63, of Geneseo, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at UnityPoint Trinity, in Rock Island. A funeral mass was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31 at St. Malachy Catholic Church, in Geneseo. Fr. Michael Pakula officiated. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. A rosary was recited at 3:45 p.m. Memorials may be left to the Marilyn Rose DePauw Memorial Fund.

Marilyn Rose was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Rock Island, the daughter of Howard and Florence (Goddard) Putney. She graduated from Rock Island High School and went on to attend Black Hawk College where she earned her associates degree in arts, and then later attended Illinois State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree of science and education. Marilyn was united in marriage to Joseph R. DePauw on Sept. 16, 1978, at St. John’s Catholic Church, in Rapid City. She was a proud member of the Geneseo Music Club where she could display her love and talent for singing. Marilyn also was a member of St. Malachy Altar & Rosary Society and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and her cats.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Joe DePauw; her sons, Alex (Kayla) DePauw, of El Paso, Ill.; and Ben (Steffanie Cotton) DePauw, of Moline; her daughter, Abby Rose DePauw, of Geneseo; three grandchildren, Maison and Ember Rose and Penelope Rose; and her mother-in-law, Jeanette DePauw, of Geneseo; as well as sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Ed) Osborn, of Rock Island and Peggy (Byron) Walker, of Rock Island; and brothers-in-law, Bob (Pam) DePauw, of Port Byron; and Ed DePauw, of Geneseo. She will be missed by her special friends Harvey and Nancy Green, Mary Wassell and Jeanne Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Florence; and her sister, Pam Putney.
