Loretta A. Bohnert, 86, of Prophetstown, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no public services. A private family burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, in Geneseo. McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, in Prophetstown, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Loretta was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Geneseo, the daughter of Harold and Belva (Weber) Dirck. She married Edgar R. Bohnert on Feb. 13, 1951, in Geneseo. He died March 6, 1983. Loretta had been employed as a secretary for the Erie School District from 1972 to 1995, when she retired. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, in Prophetstown. She enjoyed reading, quilting and crafting.

Survivors include her daughters, Pamela Kester (Mike Raby), of Normal; and Barbara (Wayne) Proeger, of Prophetstown; two grandchildren, Julia Harris, of Rochelle; and Daniel Proeger, of Hutchinson, Kan.; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Beverly (Kenneth) Bonnen, of Illinois City; and her brother, Charles Dirck, of Cambridge; and a sister-in-law, Doris Dirck, of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roland “Bud” Dirck.
