JoAnn Timmerman, 80, of rural Geneseo, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, surrounded by her family at her home. A funeral mass was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Colona. The Rev. Peter Zorjan officiated. Burial followed at Dayton Corners Cemetery, in Colona. A visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo, where a rosary was recited at 3:30 p.m. The family requested that casual attire be worn. Memorials may be left to the JoAnn Timmerman Memorial Fund.

JoAnn was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Moline, the daughter of Odell and Bertha (Volcke) DeRammelaere. JoAnn was united in marriage to Lawrence A. “Larry,” “Tim,” “Lorney,” Timmerman on April 10, 1954, in East Moline. JoAnn assisted her husband in farming in rural Geneseo for many years. Together JoAnn and Lawrence owned and operated the Country View Golf Course for 35 years. JoAnn was an avid bowler, enjoyed quilting and sewing, tending to her garden and, of course, she loved to golf.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jeff (Kelley) Timmerman, of Geneseo; daughters, Theresa (Mike) Rosenberg, of East Moline; and Debra (Tom) Ramirez, of Colona. She has four grandchildren, L.J. Jungwirth, Jenny (John) Owens, Andrew (Molly) Timmerman and Tyler (Betsy) Timmerman, and four step-grandchildren, Robin (Fred) Pena, Stacy (Dan) Neises, Jennifer (Louis) Redmond, and Tomas (Megan) Ramirez. JoAnn also is survived by four great-grandchildren: Emmy, Jack, Noah and Jaidyn; and eight step-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, Richard (LouAnn) DeRammelaere, of East Moline; and her sisters, Janet Walker, of East Moline; and June McBee, of Fennimore, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Bertha; infant son, Kenneth Timmerman; grandson, Luke Timmerman; and her brother, Renee.
