Keith Robert Jones, 89, of Geneseo, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at the Generations at Rock Island Rehab and Skilled Nursing facility, in Rock Island. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at First Congregational Church, in Geneseo. The Rev. Bruce Bergthold and Pastor Chris Cundiff will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens, in Kewanee, where military honors will be accorded by the Don Cherry VFW Post No. 5083. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to First Congregational Church, in Geneseo.

Keith was born April 27, 1928, in Kewanee, the son of Frederic and Marie (McDowell) Jones. He graduated from Kewanee High School and attended college at Purdue University, in Indiana. Keith married Betty A. Quayle on June 2, 1951, in Kewanee. Keith is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country as a corporal during World War II. Keith was construction project manager for several companies, including Deere & Company, Blackhawk Foundation, and Priester Construction before his retirement in 1994. He was a long-time, active member of First Congregational Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, as well as a member of the church choir and member of several church boards. Keith also was a member of the Geneseo Country Club for 40 years, Geneseo Kiwanis, adviser for Hammond-Henry Hospital board and was a City of Geneseo Alderman. Keith also was an instructor at Scott Community College.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Betty; children, Kathryn S. (Richard) Matusiak, of Billings, Mont.; David R. (Debra) Jones, of Geneseo; and Gregory A. Jones, of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter-in-law, Patricia McDonald, of O’Fallon; and his sister, Marilyn Altman, of Santa Barbara, Calif. Keith also is survived by nine grandchildren: London Matusiak, Ashleigh Roberts, Heather Castillo, Kristin Jones, Brett Jones, Adam Jones, Annie Henthorn, Katie Cundiff and Piper Jones. He also has 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederic and Marie; son, Thomas R. Jones; brother, Donald Jones; and by his sister, Beverly White.
