Geneseo Communications employees said they were moved by the overwhelming generosity shown during their ninth-annual community Toy Drive on Tuesday Dec. 12.

Braving cold temperatures, employees took shifts collecting toys in front of Geneseo Communications Inc from 7 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

This year, the company introduced a “Cash Match Challenge.” For every dollar donated toward the drive, the Geneseo Communications Charitable Foundation matched the amount.

In addition to several truckloads of toys, Toy Drive committee members were able to present the Geneseo Food Pantry with a check for $2,200.

“Our employees look forward to this event every year,” said General Manager, Matt Storm. “We are all witnesses to the true meaning of the season through the expressions of giving from folks who drive up and drop off toys and cash in support of this effort.”

In addition to community contributions, local retailers also took part by contributing donations toward the drive.

“I have always been proud to be a part of this community. Tuesday, Dec. 12 was a reminder of the great people who live here and their amazing generosity in support of others, making this a great place to call home,” said Storm.

“Each year this effort reminds all of us at Geneseo Communications how very blessed we are to be a part of such a giving community.” said Brenda Crider, Toy Drive coordinator. “We truly witnessed the spirit-of-the-season through the amazing generosity of others.”
