Ronald S. Lohman, 73, of Erie, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, in Bettendorf, Iowa. A celebration of life service was at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29 at the Erie Christian Church. A visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 at the Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, in Erie. Burial was in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie Christian Church or Erie Christian Church Youth Fund.

Ron was born April 23, 1944, in Moline, the son of Herbert and Mary Jane (Atwood) Lohman. He graduated from Riverdale High School, in Port Byron. He was proud to have made Eagle Scout. Ron married Pamela Brandenburg on Aug. 1, 1964, in Hillsdale. Ron was a lifelong farmer. Farming was his passion, which he enjoyed doing with his son, Greg, and grandson, Joshua, up until the end.

He was a longtime member of the Erie Christian Church where he served as a Youth Sponsor for the High School Youth for 16 years and was an Elder and Deacon. Ron also sold seed corn for various companies for 53 years. He enjoyed their winters in Mission, Texas, and spending time with his family fishing at the Wisconsin Dells. His hobbies included reading, playing cards with the family, and collecting antique tractors. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, which he kept to the end.

Ron is survived by his wife, Pam; daughter, Jody (Mark) Heppner, of Erie; son, Greg (Suzie) Lohman, of Port Byron; brothers, Richard (Mary) Lohman, of Eldridge; and David Lohman, of Hillsdale; grandchildren, Andrew Heppner; Ashley (John) Richter; Brandon Heppner; Michael, Matthew and Joshua Lohman; and one great-grandson, Landon Heppner. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janna Kay Lohman; and a sister, Sheryl Christiansen.
