Karen L. Wieneke, 60, of Geneseo, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Swedish Medical Center, in Englewood, Colo., while visiting her family. A funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. The Rev. Bruce Bergthold officiated. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Karen Wieneke Memorial Fund.

Karen was born May 18, 1957, in Moline, the daughter of Calvin and Jean (Anderson) Strother. She graduated from Moline High School. Karen was united in marriage to Larry A. Wieneke on April 16, 1977, in Moline. She worked as a homemaker during her life, raising her children, Julie and Jason. Karen enjoyed cooking and baking, which she especially loved to do with her grandchildren. She also loved to decorate for the holidays. Karen was a collector of Isabel Blooms.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Larry; her son, Jason (Julie Linville) Wieneke, of Davenport, Iowa; daughter, Julie (Kevin) Baugh, of Conifer, Colo.; grandchildren, Melanie and Alayna Baugh; sister, Linda (Tom) Dundon, of Cleveland, Ohio; and three nephews, Tommy, Chris and Ryan Dundon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Jean.
