Royce A. “Buzz” Stenzel, 83, of rural Cambridge, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care Unit, in Geneseo. A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4 at First Lutheran Church, in Geneseo. The Rev. Laura Kamprath officiated. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery, in Geneseo. A visitation was from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church, an hour-and-a-half prior to the funeral service. A Masonic ritual by Stewart Lodge No. 92 AF&AM was at 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church or the Geneseo Humane Society. Royce was born July 24, 1934, in Geneseo, the son of Roy and Margaret (Swanson) Stenzel. He was united in marriage to Sharon D. Barritt on Oct. 18, 1953, at First Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member. Royce farmed in Munson Township for more than 60 years and was always willing to led a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and dogs; woodworking; and was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau, Henry County Genealogical Society, Henry County Historical Society, Bishop Hill Heritage Society, a member of Scottish Rite, Easter Star and he had been a Mason since 1957 and a perpetual member of Stewart Lodge No. 92, of Geneseo.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon; daughters, Susan (Ronald) Hucke, of Glendale, Ariz.; and Judith Stenzel, of St. Louis, Mo.; niece, Deborah (Scott) Hawkins; and nephew, Rodger (Stephanie) Rickman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Margaret; and a sister, Joyce Rickman.
