John was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Moline, the son of Frank and Mary (Victor) Roegiers. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School, in Moline, and graduated from Alleman High School in 1961. He graduated from Bradley University in 1968 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for Missman Stanley & Associates for 43 years as a design engineer and project manager for water and waste water facilities and land development. While serving for both public and private clients in both Illinois and Iowa, the majority of his work was for municipalities and counties in the Quad-Cities area. He was proud of his long association with these communities and the lasting friendships he made with the people he served. A large number of these communities he served for nearly his entire career. He retired from Missman Stanley & Associates in 2011.

He was a member of several engineering organizations, serving as president of the local chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Colona.

He married Kathy Weber, of Coal Valley, on Sept. 19, 1970, at St. Patrick’s Church.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Michael (Patty) Roegiers, of Coal Valley; daughter, Rebecca (Brian) Nightingale, of Orion; grandchildren, Madeline, Samuel and Johnathan Nightingale; Ethan Swint and Elliott (Jennie) Swint. He loved his family and was proud of all their achievements. He was blessed with the family living very close to home over the years. He was very thankful for his wife, Kathy, for her love, care, support and special love for the entire family.

He also was blessed with many life-long friends and for their ongoing friendship, support and prayers. He said he will remember all family and friends and will see you all again.

He enjoyed family and grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed Alleman sports events, golfing, and fishing trips with family and friends, especially the many trips to Shangri-La Resort, in Orr, Minn. He said fishing trips are about making memories and, sometimes, they include fish.

John and family also thank Dr. Reddy, Dr. Gerke, Dr. Lenert, Sara Kraus, Dr. Naveen, Dr. Okba, Dr. Englebrecht, and Dr. Schrier for their long-term care. A special thank you to Fr.
