Barbara L. Haverback, 75, of rural Annawan, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Annawan. Fr. S. Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral mass and a private inurnment will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be one hour (10 a.m. to 11 a.m.) prior to the funeral at the church. A rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Annawan Community Center. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Atkinson, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Barbara was born June 28, 1942, in Annawan, the daughter of Herbert C. and Marguerite (Billiet) Vandersnick. She graduated from Annawan High School with the Class of 1960. She married Marvin E. Haverback on Nov. 27, 1965, in Annawan. She worked at Kewanee Manufacturing as a billing clerk. She was a lifelong active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served with the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed baking, gardening and refinishing antique furniture, but, most of all, she loved watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Marvin; son, Blake (Denise) Haverback, of Atkinson; and daughters, Brenda (Scott) Smith, of Annawan; Beth (James) Medema, of Prophetstown; Hope (Adam) DeRycke, of Annawan; and Heidi (Justin) Frank, of Atkinson. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Haley, Shannon, Rylie, Nicole, Emma, Kyla, Abby, Katelyn, Jackson and Mason. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Marguerite; twin daughters, Kim and Kerri; a grandson, Noah DeRycke; sister, Mary Johnson; and brother, Don Bradley.
