Several individuals were recently arrested near Geneseo for drug trafficking.

The individuals were arrested between March 10 and March 12 by Illinois State Police troopers during traffic stops.

The following incidents were initiated by troopers observing traffic violations. Once contact was made with the occupants of each vehicle, probable cause was developed to search, resulting in the following:

At 9:50 p.m., March 10, 82 pounds of cannabis were discovered during a stop at I-80 Mile Marker 22 (two miles east of Geneseo.) Arrested for cannabis trafficking and taken to the Henry County Jail were Elizabeth V. Clayton, 25, of Schenectady, N.Y., and Leahcim J. Ferguson, 32, also of Schenectady.

At 10:15 p.m. March 11, eight kilograms of heroin and five kilograms of fentanyal were discovered during a traffic stop at Mile Marker 22, east of Geneseo. Arrested for the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and taken to the Henry County Jail was Jimmy M. Mata Lozano, 29, of San Tan Valley, Ariz.

A 17-year old male juvenile was arrested at 3:20 p.m. March 12 when 153 pounds of cannabis, three pounds of cannabis wax and three bottles of liquid codeine were discovered during a traffic stop at Mile Marker 24, located two miles west of Atkinson.
