Ryan W. Benson, 58, of Polo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 21, 2018, in Princeton. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to his family.

Ryan W. Benson, 58, of Polo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 21, 2018, in Princeton. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to his family.

Ryan was born Jan. 4, 1960, in Moline, the son of Ronald W. and Ruth (Johnson) Benson. He graduated from Polo Community High School and also from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, in Chicago.

He worked alongside his father at the family business, Benson Funeral Home, in Polo, until his father’s retirement. Ryan then successfully owned and operated the Benson Funeral Home for many years. Most recently, Ryan was employed at Norberg Memorial Home, in Princeton, where he worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He was very dedicated, detailed and passionate about his work and was proud to serve all of the families he had the opportunity to work with.

He is survived by one sister, Rhonda (Glen “Butch”) Cook, of Orion; one niece, Dawn (Justin) Byars, of Oak Point, Texas; one nephew, Kevin (Kelli) Cook, of Orion. Also surviving are many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
