Emery “Bill” Craig, 80, of Geneseo, died Friday, May 11, 2018, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island. A funeral service was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. Deacon Harley Chaffee officiated. A visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Cremation rites were accorded following the funeral service and a private inurnment took place at Oakwood Cemetery on Wednesday, May 16. Memorials may be left to the E. “Bill” Craig Memorial Fund.

Bill was born Sept. 14, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Emery and Roberta (Mitchell) Craig. He graduated from Davenport High School. Bill married Nancy K. Wilharber on Nov. 30, 1963, in Davenport. Bill was a material’s supervisor for Caterpillar Inc., in Mt. Joy for 34 years before his retirement in 1988. He stayed active with the company by becoming a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Group. After his retirement, Bill and Nancy provided the lunch wagon for the Stenzel Auction Co. Bill had been a youth baseball and football coach for many years and was a talented woodworker. He rode snowmobiles for many years and was an avid fan of auto racing. Bill was the biggest fan of all his grandchildren, and loved following their success and talents in all of their activities. He will be missed by his family for his heartfelt happy tears and laughter during holidays, celebrations, and family gatherings.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nancy; sons, Steve (Tracy) Craig, of Bettendorf, Iowa; Jeff (Courtney) Craig, of Kenosha, Wis.; and Bill (Michelle) Craig, of Geneseo; grandchildren, Brandon (Larissa) Craig, Tyler, Katelin, Jacob, Alex, Samantha, Charley, Ella, Campbell, Alex, Trevor, Hailey, and Allison Craig; and his beloved dog, Barney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Roberta.
