Carrie Griffith, the assistant principal at Geneseo High School, has been named the new junior/senior high school principal of Wethersfield School Dist. 230.

Carrie Griffith, the assistant principal at Geneseo High School, has been named the new junior/senior high school principal of Wethersfield School Dist. 230.

The Wethersfield board made its decision following an executive session meeting Thursday afternoon, May 24 at the Blish Building.

Griffith will take over the principalship July 1, the same day that 10-year principal Jeremiah Johnston will step down after accepting an out-of-state principal’s job. Johnston announced the move publicly at last week’s board meeting.

“The Wethersfield Search Committee selected Ms. Griffith as our new principal due to the strong background, knowledge and expertise she possesses in serving as an instructional leader,” said a press release from the school.

“Griffith has served in various leadership positions throughout her career, and her experiences aligned perfectly with the goals our school district was looking for in our new principal.

“The Wethersfield Board of Education is excited about the experience and qualities that Carrie Griffith brings to the district, and we are looking forward to working with her as she leads our junior/senior high in the future.”

Prior to being assistant principal at Geneseo High School, Griffith served as dean of students at the middle school.
