With his hand upon the Bible, Brandon Hatteberg, of Erie, officially took the oath of office to become Geneseo’s new postmaster.

The installation ceremony took place Thursday, June 21 at the Geneseo Post Office.

Hatteberg started his postal career in 2011 as a part-time letter carrier in Rock Island. In 2012, he transferred to the post office in Clinton, Iowa, and became a full-time employee in January 2014.

During his time in Clinton, Hatteberg stepped into a management role and helped supervise. He also assisted in Geneseo.

In June 2015, he was promoted to a supervisor position in Morrison and accepted his first postmaster appointment at that location in June 2017.

Five weeks later, he returned to Geneseo. On Dec. 23, 2017, Hatteberg was appointed postmaster at the Geneseo branch, but didn’t take the official oath until last week.

His oath was issued by Des Moines-based Thomas Allen, manager of post office operations.

Hatteberg and his wife, Taylor, have a 3-year old son, Abraham.
