Marie E. Boone, 87, of Geneseo, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Hammond-Henry Hospital’s Long-Term Care, in Geneseo. A funeral mass was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Pakula officiated. Burial followed at North Cemetery, in Geneseo. A visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Geneseo Kiwanis Club or St. Malachy Catholic School.

Marie was born April 20, 1931, in Rock Island, the daughter of Thomas J. and Mae (Schumaker) Wiley. She graduated from Galva High School with the Class of 1949. She was united in marriage to Vincent A. Boone on June 26, 1954, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, in Geneseo. Vincent preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1974. Marie was a life-long member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, where she remained active in Altar & Rosary Society and Circle No. 7, and participated in Parents Club of St. Malachy School. She worked as a waitress and hostess at the former Deck Plaza in Geneseo for many years, and was a World Book Encyclopedia sales associate for many years. Marie also owned and operated Boone’s Catering in Geneseo, and her catering company fed the Geneseo Kiwanis Club for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Yahtzee, listening to old country music, and dancing. She loved coffee and red roses and could play any instrument by ear.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Julie (Ed) Bauman, of Geneseo; Cindy (Jason Wilkins) Boone, of Geneseo; Pat (Sue) Boone, of Geneseo; Lorraine (Curt) Brooks, of Rapids City; Marty Boone, of Geneseo; Terry Boone, of Geneseo; Tim (Candy) Boone, of Geneseo; and Jason (Wendy) Boone, of Geneseo; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Loretta Wiley, of Geneseo; her special friend, Julian Valdez; and her friend and caregiver, Cindy Raschke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mae; husband, Vincent; seven brothers; and one sister.
